Even though I walk past, or at least look at, this shopfront at least once a week, it took me years to realise that the name of this restaurant had changed from Dessert House Eatery to D House Cafe. In fact, I didn't discover this until today, much to my embarrassment. I didn't have a chance to peruse the menu too carefully, but from what I could see the menu was still similar to what it was many years ago, which was when I last dined here. Deciding to...

It's the pre-June rush-to-use-up-all-the-Entertainment-Book-vouchers time again. I created a custom spud using a base of sweet potato and toppings of warm braised pulled lamb shoulder, spinach, quinoa mix, broccoli and pumpkin. The base price of the potato is $4.90, meat toppings are $3 and most others are $1 each. There's also condiments at the cashier where you can add salt, pepper, chilli flakes and sauces. A new batch of sweet potato had finished cooking right before our order so they were piping hot. The pumpkin was cooked but the...

We came to Cumulus Inc. for a belated Mother's Day celebration. I've previously been here for breakfast, but I was excited to sample their dinner offerings. Knowing they didn't take bookings for groups of less than seven people, we made a point of arriving early. Coming in at around 6:15pm, we managed to nab the last table for 5. There were two impressive varieties of bread - sourdough multigrain and lighter bread with an almost cake-like consistency and a crispy, slightly salted crust. We started off with the daily soup...

We picked three dishes from the lunch menu, though in addition to the main menu they have a selection of salads, pastries and sweets in a cabinet. They appeared slightly understaffed; the main waiter seemed to be run off his feet. The Cabo Tacos were corn tacos filled with baja snapper, avocado, sweet coleslaw and mayo ($17). They were quite...

Not feeling that hungry, I picked cold tofu with minced meat sauce. An entrée of Taiwanese popcorn chicken was shared by the table. The tofu was smooth and fresh but I didn't find the sauce to be particularly flavoursome - adding some chilli made it nicer. The crispy yet juicy Taiwanese popcorn chicken was much better.
