Chris and Sally Caldwell started up Love Pollo from a love of chicken. There are plenty of charcoal chicken shops around, but not many places that make a mean and juicy roasted chicken cooked on a rotisserie. Local, free range chicken is expertly cooked by staff after extensive training and is all gluten free, hormone free and chemical free, and interestingly their gravy is gluten free too. The cooking is timed so that they're as fresh as possible when served. As well as their Traditional flavour, which has been...

[caption id="attachment_7106" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Fish and Chips - Gunard, Salad, Tartare ($25)[/caption] We took the scenic route to Akaroa (a French-influenced coastal town), following Summit Road. I created a custom spud using a base of sweet potato and toppings of warm braised pulled lamb shoulder, spinach, quinoa mix, broccoli and pumpkin. The base price of the potato is $4.90, meat toppings are $3 and most others are $1 each. There's also condiments at the cashier where you can add salt, pepper, chilli flakes and sauces. A new batch of sweet potato had finished cooking right before our order so they were piping hot. The pumpkin was cooked but the...
