Today is Cinco de Mayo (i.e. the 5th of May) and as part of he celebration, Guzman Y Gomez was selling burritos and burrito bowls for $5. Fortunately I came in and ordered right before a huge crowd of about 15 people walked in. Although it was quite busy most people got takeaway so it was easy to find a seat. I haven't been to any Korean restaurants away from the CBD so I was interested to see how this one compared. The price was comparable to the city joints I've visited so far, but the food was better than most. I quite like saltimbocca so I thought I'd give it a go here. What came out was not what I'd been visualising when I ordered. It seemed like the ham had been tossed with the veal rather than being layered on top and I also couldn't see any sage leaves. Pho Nom opened last month in the new Emporium shopping centre on Lansdale St. Their most popular menu items appeared to be the pho, rice paper rolls and banh mi, though they also serve some bún (vermicelli rice noodles) and cơm (rice) dishes, spring rolls and salads. Grill'd have recently launched new sliders and sides at all stores and to kick it off, they were giving out vouchers to try 3 sliders for $10 (instead of $15). The three chosen today were: Beef with cheese, mustard and pickle; Beef with pomegranate and mild wasabi slaw; Chicken with Asian slaw and roasted peanuts.
