It's the pre-June rush-to-use-up-all-the-Entertainment-Book-vouchers time again. I created a custom spud using a base of sweet potato and toppings of warm braised pulled lamb shoulder, spinach, quinoa mix, broccoli and pumpkin. The base price of the potato is $4.90, meat toppings are $3 and most others are $1 each. There's also condiments at the cashier where you can add salt, pepper, chilli flakes and sauces. Sweet potato now costs the same as normal potato, rather than being $1 extra. The mixed grain tabouli again looked tempting, but I remember from last time that I didn't like the mint in it. Instead I went for the wild rice with almonds and raisins, and it was surprisingly tasty. The dahl added a nice salty touch to counter the sweetness of the other ingredients I added. Having both pumpkin and sweet potato was probably sweetness overkill, but I didn't know what else to put in my custom-made...

Today the Hawthorn Spudbar store had a free upgrade to sweet potato - a saving of $1.80. Both A2 and I got custom-made spuds.
