This is the second restaurant added to my list of to-try's from The Age's "Don't stop at the dumplings" article and being only 2 minutes walk away from uni, I don't really have any excuse not to go. [gallery type="rectangular" ids="5520,5521,3460,3461"] Today I had the Cross-Bridge Noodles ($12), which was a large bowl of very hot soup, served with raw quail egg, fish, chicken, two types of ham,   chicken, assorted veggies and warm, pre-cooked noodles. The idea is to add all these ingredients into the soup (in that order)...

After reading an article on Chinese food in The Age (http://www.theage.com.au/good-food/eat-out/dont-stop-at-the-dumplings-8230-20130701-2p69w.html) this one piqued my interested so I thought I'd come and visit. I came here mainly to try the noodles, since they're handmade, and was hoping to try the spicy chicken with vegetables on noodles (as suggested by the article). Unfortunately the lunch special version only came with rice and I didn't feel like spending $22 for the...

The fried silky tofu gua bao was eaten on site as I didn't think it would...

Because there were still a few dishes we were wanting to try, we decided to return a week later for a birthday dinner. The chicken was, obviously very hot. It didn't have as much pepper as the dishes last week so it had a different sort of bite. Mum and I have heard many good things about this restaurant but we haven't had the opportunity to visit it until now. As expected, the dishes were pretty spicy, but thankfully, not as oily as some Sichuan restaurant food I've had. All the dishes were great: the fish in the soup wasn't overcooked and the ham choi gave it the right amount of sourness, the eggplant was crispy (and slightly sweet) on the outside with a soft centre. The kung pao chicken and ma po tofu were also...
