Newly minted Stop17 takes its name from the nearby stop number 17 of the 86 tram that trundles up Smith Street. It's been started up by co-owners Ryan and Tyler (also owner-operator of Platform 3 Cafe & Tapas Bar in Carnegie), and Stop17's chef, Piri, is ex-Huxtable. Popular with locals and cyclists passing by, Truman Cafe in its family-friendly street corner digs since 2011. The previous owner's personal collection of odds and ends are proudly displayed all over the walls, counters and shelves, and even patrons bring in their retro finds to add to the charm of the place. Known for its mainly American fare, family-run pub Three Crowns sits prominently on the corner of Victoria and King St. The modest but clean space features a separate dining room, a wine bar and a beer garden. Popping up at The Boatbuilders Yard, Bang Bang RC is giving us a taste of what's to come and leaving us hanging for more. Stokers used to be a two store affair, but the land where the original Ivanhoe restaurant sat had to be cleared and developed into apartments.
