Outshone by the cuisine of its geographical neighbours, Lao cuisine hasn't made much of an appearance here yet. Pintoh hopes to change that with its spread of modern and traditional Lao dishes. Its menu draws influence from Laos and the northeastern Isan region of Thailand, which has a population of ethnic Lao people that outnumbers those in Laos itself. Popping up at The Boatbuilders Yard, Bang Bang RC is giving us a taste of what's to come and leaving us hanging for more. The permanent restaurant in Elsternwick will be built from scratch, and whilst it's time consuming, expensive and leaves more potential for things to go wrong, it does allow them to design and create their dream restaurant.
