30 Jul Lounge Kitchen, Melbourne CBD
For the last few years, Lounge has been better known for its late night music and entertainment program, but are now seeking to further develop their kitchen service to complement their other services. Head chef Elystan Westropp-Evans (ex-Seamstress) has created a new sharing menu, which we tried out tonight.
The yuzu cured salmon with cucumber was a refreshing bite.
Our favourite from the night was the crispy pork belly with apple jam on a slice of potato. Tasty, with a lovely crackling – just what you want from this sort of pork belly dish!
As well as those pictured, there were other dishes like zucchini and haloumi fritters, delicious tempura prawns with miso mayo, and crumbed and deboned chicken wings.
Lounge was quite a cosy hangout, and the new menu creates another reason to linger a little longer.
