17 Nov Hey Little Fishy, Malvern East
2020 hasn’t been kind to hospitality. Hey Little Fishy opened just before lockdowns in Melbourne came in, and thankfully it has made it out the other side.
Their food is full of flavour, from the buttery, garlicky, well-seasoned vegetables to the tangy tartare sauce. Seafood is handled with care, and their crunchy batter and crumb encases produce that is not over-cooked – prawns, scallops and of course, flake, are all good. If you like cheese, you might enjoy the Prawn Saganaki which has plenty of cheesy flavour in the sauce. It comes with pita bread, which is perfect for scraping up the last bits of sauce in the pan. It’s hard to find sweet potato chips done well, but they are done well here – crisp and tasty (and it’s a huge serving too).
Both fresh seafood and related seafood products are available for purchase to cook at home too, and as an extra point of difference, Hey Little Fishy even caters for the gluten free crowd.
