We had a few minutes to buy some bread for breakfast before the group tour began. We popped into Maxim's: one of the bakeries just outside University station. A2 got chicken and pumpkin and I got mushroom and chicken. My bun had a very strong taste of garlic; luckily there was more bread than filling. All the restaurants on level 7 had long queues. We took a ticket for Imasuke and waited over an hour, during which we decided what we were going to order. The food arrived quite quickly so we started eating at around 8:15pm and finished by 9pm, which isn’t terribly late. Mum and dad shared a duck nabeyaki udon (70HKD) and a hotpot with oysters in miso soup (148HKD). The oysters were the biggest oysters I’ve seen so far: slightly smaller than golf balls. A2 and I shared a...

Like the McDonald's we went into at Yau Ma Tei, this one was packed and it was difficult to find a seat. At the Yau Ma Tei McDonald's it seemed like half of the occupants weren’t buying food at all, just using the tables and/or using the free wi-fi. Mum ordered a medium cappuccino for about 3AUD and two red bean pies. The pies didn’t seem as oily...

The parents brought us to this popular claypot restaurant that they ate at during their last visit to Hong Kong. All the claypots came with gai lan and there were plenty of lovely crunchy bits at the bottom. The sauce was given in a separate bowl so we added it to our own bowls after taking from the main dish. It seemed like the claypots and a...

Taipei is about 2 hours from Fukuoka and we were provided with lunch. There was a choice of beef (A2 said it tasted like meat pie filling) and floured fish pieces with Sichuan sauce. They also gave a few pieces of fruit, tiramisu and a bread roll. My lunch was lemon pepper salmon with potatoes and green beans. For once my lunch looked better than everyone else’s. Even my bread roll was nicer. It was another 90 minutes or so between Taipei and Hong Kong. The airline gave us...
