Magic Mountain Saloon presented a very interesting proposition to city brunch goers with its Asian influenced morning menu. Enticing options covered both sweet and savoury, dry and soupy, light and heavy. The Nicholson end of Johnston St is where Jackson Finlay and Diana Martinez have decided set up Fitzroy's newest cafe, Uncle & Jak. A humble, almost typical pub look on outside belies the smart and spiffy interior of The Astor, home to The Roving Marrow and The Astor Bar. Old Mates Pizza & Pasta is a small pizza and pasta shop mainly catering to takeaway and delivery, though there are a handful of tables both inside and outdoors. You can't usually expect out-of-this world pasta at pizza places, especially when most of the patrons here are after a quick feed.
