Back when I started university, I made a list of potential cafes to visit during my breaks, dreaming all the food adventures I could undertake. I find myself here during a catch-up, quite a number of years after making that list. The interior is spacious and stripped back, and splashes of colour on the walls keep it from feeling too sterile....

Acland Street has received a new Mediterranean eatery, courtesy of owners Paul Jewson and Marco Pugnaloni. They're the duo responsible for St Kilda favourite Fitzrovia, just further north of here. The menu at Roxborough has been dreamt up by Head Chef Christian Byrne, and it caters for both 'by-the-course', and share style dining....

It's now summer, and time for new dishes to hit the menu at Sardi. There are a few additions, but three in particular catch our eye, and there's something new for everyone. The more traditional cafe-goer gets a new Eggs Benny. Ham hock, broccolini and eggs are piled on top of brioche and slathered in an apple cider and asparagus hollandaise. It's a tasty and different take on the benedict....

Melbourne loves its brunch with eggs, but there are currently none that focus solely on this golden treasure, despite all the ogling over #yolkporn. Not only does Good Egg fill this niche, it does it using truly free range eggs that are so prized that they’re also used by Daylesford’s Lake House, and have won a Delicious state produce award. Said farm is Real Eggs, where chickens are kept happy and healthy, living in a density of only 8 chickens per hectare....
