Good company and a good meal – catch-ups over food are one of the pleasures of life, and the bright, sunny weather today was the icing on the cake. It was time for a catch-up with S, and wanting to pick a place somewhere in between us, we settled on Touchwood.
S enjoyed her poached pear and salted caramel wholemeal waffles with whipped mascarpone, strawberry dust and toasted almonds. The waffles had a satifying crunch and had a dense chew from the wholemeal. It was unsurprisingly sweet with all the salted caramel syrup, but thankfully it was drizzled more off to the side of the waffles, enabling us to add in as much of it as we wanted.
I’d been eating out a lot that week, so I thought I’d pick something more virtuous. My Morning Grain Salad was made of quinoa, freekeh, wild rice, rocket, toasted almonds, and chai-soaked raisins, topped with cumin yoghurt and a yunny poached egg. I don’t often order salads, but this one was tasty, and had well balanced flavours.
With its spacious interior, enticing outdoors area and varied menu, it’s easy to see why Touchwood is a local favourite.
