21 Nov The Salmon Shop, Kew
As well as offering its salmon products for sale and running cooking classes, the Tassal salmon store in Kew also has a small cafe attached. Today we both ordered from the specials board. I had Crispy Skinned Salmon with Steamed Asparagus and Mexican Salsa ($22) and A2 got Salmon Sashimi with Green Mango and Shoots ($17.50). The other specials on offer were a thai soup and char-grilled salmon with buttered potatoes and horseradish creme fraiche.
As expected, the salmon in both dishes was very fresh. My salmon was beautifully cooked and juicy, with a salted, crispy skin. The clean and simple flavours from all the difference ingredients went well together.
I also had a decaf coffee, which was quite weak, but wasn’t bad enough to overcome the good impression left by my main meal.
