28 Apr Thai SELECT Food Tour, Melbourne, Part 1 – Jing Jai Thai
I had the pleasure of participating in a Taste of Thailand tour on this fine, sunny day, which was organised by Asian Inspirations. Since we can’t travel right now, the next best thing is to enjoy Thai cuisine and culture in our own country. Thankfully Thai Select makes it easier to identify authenticity. Restaurants awarded with the prestigious Thai Select accreditation have been certified by the Thai Department of International Trade Promotion for serving authentic cuisine, prepared with proper ingredients and spices in the traditional method of cooking.
Our first stop of the tour was at one of these Thai Select restaurants, Jing Jai Thai, right in the heart of the city. We began with oysters topped with a punchy chilli jam, crisp and melt-in-the-mouth yum pla foo with fruit salad, pineapple fried rice, and the deliciously chewy an chan noodles (would definitely return fro these).
We also tried a variety of sweets to finish, the highlight of which for me were the mini rice dumplings.
