I went to Curtin House rooftop in the hopes that Beatbox Kitchen Rooftop was still open, but at the moment the rooftop is home to All Day Burgers. I've decided that my taste buds aren't all that excited by beef, mustard and pickles so if I eat a burger like that I have to know it's something special before I try it. It seemed to be quite popular, but because I didn't know anything about All Day Burger at that stage, I headed off to have Huxtaburger's Denise...

When the Mr Burger food truck is at Therry St it can be found in a laneway across the road from the Queen Vic Deli. The menu is simple, having only three burger options: Mr Burger, Mr Meat and Mr Veg. The Mr Burger comes with a beef pattie, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayo and tomato sauce. It came half-wrapped in foil, which helped to contain the burger, particularly the cheese, and keep my hands clean. With the mustard and pickles it was a lot like eating...

At the moment, Captain Melville is having a special on Mondays and Tuesdays where their burger and parma are reduced to $17. The idea is that people would vote on their favourite, and the winning dish will continue to the next round. The only modification I made was to have only one slice of cheese instead of two,...

Lectures finished early today so it was a good opportunity for us to have an early lunch. Stovetop is located within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education building, which must be very handy for those students. Since they serve breakfast all day I went for a lunch item (available after 11am): Brioche - Corned wagyu beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and seeded mustard in a toasted bun ($14). There were also some pastries, cakes, sandwiches and tarts available for eat-in or take away. I read that many people were disappointed by...

Today I had the opportunity to try Merrywell Upstairs for lunch. I’m not big on American food, but seeing as the Merrywell Burger ($22) is apparently one of the best burgers around here, I thought I’d give it a go. The burger bar is Merrywell Downstairs, but we have an Entertainment Guide discount only for the Upstairs section. According to the online menus, Upstairs served a burger (the Merrywell Angus Burger) that was almost the same as Downstairs, the main difference being served with a brioche rather than...
