Time for my return to try Maha's famous lamb burger. Previously $15, the burger and beer deal has sinced increased to $18. The burger of the month for August is lamb burger with candied olive mayo, onion rings, basturma and kefalograviera with a 33cl Efes Pilsen beer, imported from Greece. The fluffy and slightly sweet tasting buns had been toasted on one side and the patty was charred but still moist. Fried shallots added a bit of a crunch and the cheese and basturma gave the burger a nice...

The Age named Purple Peanut's veggie burger as one of the 5 to try in Melbourne, so after uni I thought I'd pop in to see if it was as good as people say. I decided to go with the Gammodoki Prawn Burger ($9.5), which is exactly the same as the Gammodoki Tofu Burger ($9), but with prawns as well. The description of the burger is as follows: "Our own home-made tofu burger (tofu, beans, carrot, onion, oats, egg, sake, sesame and ginger) topped with prawns, served on a...

Today I tried the Perfect Pear burger from Grill'd: Grilled chicken breast, poached pears, fig paste, avocado, Spanish onion, rocket & shaved parmesan. I knew it was going to be a sweet burger; I didn't expect it to be quite this sweet. Virtually all the sweetness came from the fig paste, which was the first layer on top of the bun. It wasn't so bad if I ate it upside down, but I ended up scraping half of it off anyway. I still prefer savoury and I liked...

A2 and I took a trip to Grill'd to use an Entertainment Book voucher before it expired. A2 ordered a Garden Goodness veggie burger ($11.50), whilst I decided to go for one of the three new burgers on the menu: Hot Hombre ($12.50). It's a chicken burger with spicy black bean salsa, cheese, avocado, tomato, Spanish onion and a tortilla chip. After flashing my student ID I also managed to score a free drink (available on Mondays and Tuesdays). The veggie pattie was very...

My first visit to Convent Bakery in the Abbotsford Convent, despite living around the area for 8 years. I ordered the chicken burger in foccacia bread with capsicum sauce, aioli, tomato & guacamole ($13). I swapped out the chips for salad instead. Mum tried one of the specials of the day, which was porterhouse steak ($15). It was quite a busy place, with most people popping in for coffee, bread or other baked goods. I'm guessing quite a lot of their business comes from the office-workers working on Johnston street. I...
