Society is a dining institution, having first opened in 1932 and maintaining its offering of great service and Italian fine dining. It has elaborate fit out and can cater for all sorts of occasions because of its multiple rooms and cocktail lounge.
My lunch choice was the risotto of the day containing truffle oil, porcini and artichoke. The risotto was topped with a zucchini flower, the petals of which encased oozing buffalo mozzarella. This choice of cheese gave it a creamy yet mild taste that didn’t overwhelm the more subtle zucchini flower. I did feel that at times the bitterness of the artichoke overpowered the more delicate flavours of the mushrooms, but overall it was a very enjoyable risotto and the rice grains were cooked perfectly.
