Since it was dinner-time (and quite late by the time we got a table), the only options I had tonight were the charred lamb ribs ($16), scotch fillet or fish of the day (both $29). I didn’t feel like ribs so I picked the fish dish, which was pan-fried barramundi with fennel, cherry tomatoes and rocket.
There was a decent sized portion of barramundi on the plate, and maybe a whole bulb of fennel cut into wedges. The barramundi was fresh and thankfully not overcooked. I’m not big on fennel because of the flavour, but was pleased to find that a significant amount of the aniseed taste had been cooked out and the fennel was very soft and tender. I’m not exactly sure what the sauce was made of, but it was light and slightly tangy.
Overall I was quite happy with the dish, though it was a bit pricey.
