23 Jul L’Burger, Hawthorn
A new addition to Glenferrie Road, L’Burger aims to bring something a little different to the burger scene by using local, premium ingredients, delivered fresh, not frozen.
Their top seller is the basic L’Beef burger, but coming close is The Luxemburger. There’s smokiness from the BBQ sauce and an award winning bacon, which is not too salty, and a little sweet. The juicy, blushing pink patty is a mix of tasty parts of the steer including brisket and chuck, plus a bit of wagyu. It’s definitely one of most impressive beef burgers I’ve had of late.
The Prawn Noir has plenty of crunch, and I love the freshness contributed by other ingredients like the salad, tomato and lemon caper mayonnaise. Even the sides are done well. Both the beer battered house fries and sweet potato chips are crispy, without a hint of sogginess.
L’Burger is going on my list as one of my favourites. The flavours are balanced, the burgers are well executed, and I didn’t feel that heavy, greasy sensation afterwards – a big plus for me. Their current ‘Around the world in 26 burgers’ specials menu is yet another reason to return.
