21 Jun Kung Fu Burger, South Yarra
Kung Fu Burger is the product of a love for both Asian food and burgers, and as you might expect, there are clear signs of Asian inspiration in the menu.
You’ll find ingredients like sriracha, wasabi, yuzu and kimchi just to name a few. Kung Fu Burger’s grass-fed beef patties are flavoursome, but the fried chicken in the Minister Chicken is a definite highlight. They use chicken thigh rather than breast and it’s a wise decision – juices ooze out after biting through that crunchy batter.
Burgers can be supplemented with sides like the Lub Lub Chicken Bites, which are a bit like popcorn chicken, and loaded chips – ours is piled high with pulled pork, sriracha mayo, jalapenos and bonito flakes. All the condiments are prepared in store, and there’s a range of dipping sauces to choose from too.
With interesting flavours and well-executed burgers, I’d be keen to return and try some of the other burgers on their menu.
