12 Feb High Society Cafe, Armadale
There’s no shortage of cafes and restaurants along High Street, but High Society aims to offer hearty fare and specialty coffee to the busy shopping strip. Aside from the usual hot beverages, High Society also offers a number of teas and lattes, including Red Velvet, Blue Mermaid and the Black Nougat Latte, which is quite a sweet drink.
Dishes on the menu feature plenty of ingredients that work together. Their Moroccan Chicken Salad is a pretty large serve of Moroccan-spiced chicken breast with spinach, quinoa, half an avocado, nuts, fried egg, cumin yoghurt for freshness, and hollandaise that’s found just underneath the egg. The hollandaise adds a fair amount of creaminess and tang, but if you’re not a fan, you can avoid mixing it through the other ingredients. Sweet-tooths will probably gravitate towards the Pancake Stack – a sizeable triple stack of moist buttermilk pancakes teamed up with poached pear, mascarpone, fruits, nuts, vanilla ice cream and a liberal pour of rich chocolate sauce.
