26 Jul Colourful Yunnan, Carlton Take 2

I returned to try out another of their noodle dishes: Rice Noodles w. Tofu Pudding, Peanut Pieces, Beef Mince, Pickled Chinese Cabbage and Special Chili Sauce ($10).

Again, there was a huge serve of the smooth noodles but this time I couldn’t finish it. The tofu pudding is apparently similar to that found in tofu fa. It was smooth and softer than regular tofu, but firm enough to pick up with chopsticks relatively easily. There was barely any beef mince. The first thing I tasted was the chilli sauce. It had quite a strong flavour with hints of fermented bean and also quite a bitter taste. At first I thought it came from the nearby pickled veggies, but it wasn’t. I wasn’t a fan of the chilli sauce; thankfully it tasted much better once I mixed everything through. Probably wouldn’t order it again from here though.
