20 May Chill Bro Paletas, Melbourne CBD
Chill Bro Paletas are branching out from their namesake and have started selling another Mexican sweet favourite – churros! Mexican churros use regular sugar rather than the castor sugar used in their Spanish cousins. The bite-sized churros come with dipping sauce and toppings, or drizzled over in dulce de leche caramel sauce. Alternatively, they can be found in basket form, holding scoops of ice cream for a simultaneously hot and cold treat. Don’t take too long taking photos; you’ll want to enjoy this one with its crispy churro base and non-melted ice cream.
You can, of course, always just go for a paleta, i.e. Mexican ice cream on a stick. There are paletas to suit any taste, with some more icy, and others more creamy. Having tried a fruity watermelon pleta previously, I chose a pistachio paleta. For $1.50 extra you can add toppings to your heart’s content. I pair the pistachio with a half-half dark chocolate dip, adding sprinkles of peanuts and waffle bits on top. There’s nothing like chocolate and nuts on ice cream.
There are so many flavours and toppings to try, the combinations are endless, making ChillBro Paletas an easy one to regularly return to.
