I was after baked eggs today and an early finish provided the opportunity to satisfy my craving. The baked egg daily specials were the vegetarian option of miso eggplant, tofu and noodles and the non-vegetarian option of lemon and herb chicken with potatoes. Part of the eggs were slightly overdone, but I still enjoyed the dish. The herbs, including the parsley on top, helped lift the flavour. It was a very substantial version of baked eggs, and that at only $15. [caption id="attachment_5224" align="aligncenter" width="1300"] Baked Eggs w. Lemon...

[caption id="attachment_5206" align="aligncenter" width="529"] Lamb Salad w. Tzatziki ($18)[/caption] The tzatziki was much thicker than what I've seen before, but it tasted quite good. The garlic wasn't too overpowering and I liked the amount of cucumber in it. There was, however, a lot of dressing. I wasn't able to finish the final layer of salad because there was too much - it was basically swimming in dressing. Despite this, the salad was still enjoyable because the lamb was nicely cooked and seasoned well. There were a few pieces that...

[caption id="attachment_5202" align="aligncenter" width="529"] Grilled Chicken Salad - Pomegranate and Agave Nectar Dressing, Tomatoes, Carrot, Cucumber, Grilled Peppers, Mushrooms and Onions ($18.50)[/caption] Although the menu description made it sound like it would be quite sweet, it was more salty than sweet, which actually suited me better. The chicken was pretty tasty, not dry, and the mix of grilled and raw vegetables lent the dish a variety of flavours and textures. Tonight I ordered spicy salmon. For some reason I read the menu as saying grilled so I was surprised when the dish came with raw salmon. The salmon was cut into (mostly) large cubes and mixed with a spicy sauce that tasted strongly of either garlic or chives. Also in the mix were vegetables, mainly bean sprouts and cabbage. There was a lot of sauce and I found it to be too strong-tasting to eat much without rice, so unfortunately I had to leave a lot of the...

I was invited to have lunch at Twee's Hut Vietnamese Favourites, which has an emphasis on fresh and healthy dishes from various regions of Vietnam. Much of their menu is taken from family recipes, including the aptly names 'Papa Pho'. Also on the menu are rice paper rolls, banh mi, bun, bun bo hue, springrolls and freshly squeezed fruit and veggie juice. Also on the menu is Twee's Soul Bowl, which was described as being somewhat similar to pad thai. The restaurant is owned and run by the...
