Owner Martin Pirc and head chef Daniel Schelbert from Punch Lane have ventured eastward to Richmond to set up their bistro and wine bar. It's a laid-back space where you can savour Australian and European wines and nibble on snacks, or have a proper meal. Named after Saint Urban, the Bishop of Langres in France during the 4th century, and a patron saint of wine makers, you know their wine is something they take very seriously. Another season, another menu. Long Story Short is one of the new kids on the block, joining the ranks of many both established and up-and-coming cafes in Richmond. Previously the site of Zaza's, just tucked away from Bridge Road, the space has now been transformed into a cafe that is building up a loyal following. As with the previous fit-out, it's relaxed and friendly inside, but a bit of a refresh gives it a touch more warmth that suits the cafe very well. The coming of a new...

It's not often that you hear of non-profit restaurants, but Feast of Merit is such a place. 100% of their profits go to YGAP, an organisation that runs social enterprises such as this one. Feast of Merit features a contemporary Middle Eastern menu with a seasonal, sustainable and ethical farm-to-table philosophy. There's a distinct breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, and since we visited during...

Dropping into Salona for a quick meal on the way home, I ordered a beef souvlona. A mix between a burger and souvlaki, souvlonas are a Salona creation. The thin beef patty was accented with saganaki, capers, mustard tzatziki and cos lettuce, all wrapped up in satisfyingly toasty and fluffy pita bread. To go with it were some super crunchy spiced chips. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the souvlona. Although I would have liked the patty to be a little more moist, the flavour combination was tasty. [caption...
