Ora is a small cafe, known for its good food and coffee. It also has a selection of tasty looking baked goods displayed at the front counter. Unfortunately Ora's popular walnut eggs weren't on the menu, but there were plenty of other intriguing dishes to try, including two specials today. As well as offering its salmon products for sale and running cooking classes, the Tassal salmon store in Kew also has a small cafe attached. Today we both ordered from the specials board. I had Crispy Skinned Salmon with Steamed Asparagus and Mexican Salsa ($22) and A2 got Salmon Sashimi with Green Mango and Shoots ($17.50). The other specials on offer were a thai soup and char-grilled salmon with buttered potatoes and horseradish creme fraiche. As expected, the salmon in both dishes was very fresh. Next year's Entertainment Book doesn't have any Laurent Bakery vouchers, so A2 and I thought this should be the next one to be used. Both of us chose the turkey baguette, which had turkey breast slices, lettuce and an onion relish. It was nice and  fresh-tasting, if a little plain; it could have done with a sprinkle of salt. Since having that amazing kangaroo steak in Broken Hill, I'd been longing to have a similar experience elsewhere. Sadly, this one wasn't quite up to that standard, but it was still pretty good.
