We ventured out for an early Father's Day dinner in an effort to avoid the weekend crowd. We don't frequently order a side dish to accompany our main meal, but mum was intrigued by the ancient grain salad and our Entertainment Book voucher was for 25% off rather than one complimentary main. Our orders for the night: - Mum - Spanner Crab Risotto, Celeries, Manjimup Winter Truffle ($38) - Dad - Jurassic Quail, Crimson Grapes & Chestnut Panzanella ($34) - A2 - Yellow Fin Tuna, White Ratatouille, Green Olive & Almonds ($36) - Me...

Located in Equitable Pl, which is between Collins and Lt Collins and near Elizabeth St, this small cafe specialises in fugazza. Quoting from their website, "Fugazza recreates traditional Italian baked sandwiches. Our light, tasty focaccia start with artisan sourdough bread, created using a combination of wholemeal, rye and unbleached flour. True to their origins, our sandwiches are baked, not pressed, creating a beautifully light, crisp crust." I got the $10 offer which included a half fugazza (normally $6) plus a soup (normally $6.90 for a regular size). They have 2 soups,...

I've been interested in this restaurant for a while and after hearing about their $9 lunch it was time to finally make a trip. It's actually very close to Johnston St so it's a very minor detour between home and uni. The downstairs pintxos (pronounced pinchos) and bar area is Naked for Satan, whilst the upstairs bar and restaurant is called Naked in the Sky. At first I thought the $9 lunch was a single daily special, but it turns out the whole lunch menu for Naked in...

In hindsight, I shouldn't have gone for breakfast on the same day I booked myself in for this Scoopon lunch, especially when (much to my dismay) my metabolism is starting to slow down. I know I've been eating out a lot these last few weeks, but I want to take advantage of the quiet part of the semester. [caption id="attachment_5543" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Seafood Paella[/caption] The Scoopon deal was $8 for a choice of paella or a platter of 3 tapas; I opted for the seafood paella. There was a decent amount...

Generally when I visit Italian restaurants for dinner my choices are limited to either salad or a large piece of meat. Today I opted for the light option of a chicken salad (Grilled Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato, Olives, Cucumber, Red Onions, Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, $19.90). The salad tasted OK but the chicken breast was overdone. It was expensive for what it was, but I've come to expect that from salads.
