Today we took a trip out to try some Middle Eastern food, which is not a cuisine I'm too familiar with. The food items were divided into three sections on the menu, corresponding to the three different serving sizes of sharing plates. For the two of us, we chose one medium-sized dish, the BBQ lamb ribs, and two larger plates of quail 'Joojeh' kebab al-sikbaj and khoresht ghalieh mahi (South Iranian fish stew). Today we ordered a dinner-time food delivery from a local takeaway restaurant in Kew East via Menulog. Browsing the different cuisines on offer, Indian appealed to us the most on this occasion, so we chose Preeti Indian Takeaway. We ordered beef vindaloo, fish madras and some lemon rice to accompany our curries. The beef vindaloo was really good, with soft meat and a nice, tangy kick from the vinegar. The lemon rice was also done very well and the fish in the madras curry tasted quite fresh. We did...

The restaurant had a warm and friendly vibe and was a busy place to be for Sunday lunch; it was still almost full when we left at around 3pm. Thankfully it has a deceptively small shopfront; Pure Italian also has a downstairs area next to the kitchen. It doubles as a small store, offering a selection of cakes, small goods, antipasto and other various Italian food products for sale. Menus are written up on the board and today it included a selection of two entrees, about 10 mains...

Top Paddock was a much bigger cafe than I was anticipating. It was high-ceilinged and light-filled with a mix of both small and communal tables. We got there at around 12:40 and it was bustling with customers, but we got a table for two straight away. I ordered the gin and lime cured ocean trout fillet with pickled baby beetroot, potato galette, poached eggs, leaves, goats curd and toast. All the different ingredients were done very well. The combination of flavours was generally good; I wasn't too sure...
