Nourished:385 is Melbourne’s first 100% gluten free and clean eating bar and eatery, and not having much experience with this sort of food, my interest was piqued. Apart from the healthy menu, created by executive chef Radhe Vaid, the wine menu is also full of either organic, biodynamic and/or preservative free tipples. Even the coffee is organic. Like many healthy cafes, Nourished:385 also offers freshly made juices and smoothies available eat-in or takeaway. The café has a spacious and home-like feel with clean and simple décor and a few...

Walking through to the end of a little alley just next to the Shell station I came to this little oasis of food and coffee. The Vertue of the Coffee Drink is in such a random location that it's almost like finding goodies in an Easter egg hunt. The front counter has a cabinet full of sweet treats such as cookie sandwiches from Butterbing Cookies, scrolls by Kwak Scrolls, doughnuts from Matt Forbes, pastries from Noisette. Vertue also doubles as a retailer, having coffee beans and other equipment...

Ora is still as popular as ever, especially now that it's been voted Melbourne's best food cafe of 2014 by the Good Cafe Guide. It was set to be a very hot Spring day today, so before we became too lethargic to venture outside, mum and I popped into Who's Harry for an early lunch. When I first walked in I was surprised at how cosy, but small it seemed to be. After it was pointed out that there was more seating out the back we settled at a large communal table there. The tables outdoors were quite popular, probably because Melbourne hasn't seen this much nice sunshine for a while, but...

Addict opened a few months ago, adding to the burgeoning number of cafes in Fitzroy. Occupying a relatively quiet spot at the corner of Gore and Johnston St, Addict has a great light-filled space and outdoors tables for people to enjoy the nice weather. The pulled pork sandwich appeared to be very popular, but I was suffering from pulled pork fatigue and decided to go down a different route. I ordered the quinoa and chickpeas instead. Being cooked in mushroom stock, the chickpeas and red quinoa were tasty in themselves....
