27/12/13 We were staying in an apartment near rue Les Petits Carreaux and rue Montorgueil, where there were a lot of bakeries, fruit shops and cafes. We visited the Stohrer bakery where we bought a mini beignet and a muffin-shaped feuilette agrume that was sort of like brioche, tasted a bit like palmier and had a crispy outer. The feuillete agrume had pieces of preserved orange and lemon inside. Stohrer is the oldest patisserie in Paris, having opened in 1730. Apparently Nicholas Stohrer invented the baba au rhum, which...

Here's a summary of my rankings for burgers, rolls, sliders, subs, sandwiches etc., which will grow over time. For simplicity, I'll only include things with warm fillings. This is the curry beef bun I bought last night. Not much filling - this was the section that had the most - and hardly any beef. There were maybe three tiny cubes inside.[gallery order="DESC" link="file" columns="2" ids="2846,2844"] Emperor's Garden Bakery 96-100 Hay Street Haymarket, NSW, 2000 (02) 9211 2135 http://www.emperorsgarden.com.au/Home.php ...

In the Sogo department store A2 and I bought a croquante bun and some charcoal powder bread from a bakery called Das Gute, part of A1 Bakery. The charcoal bread had almond and charcoal powder and also a few pieces walnuts added. The croquante was crunchy on the outside, was a little sweet, similar to a butterfly biscuit, and was filled with walnuts. It was addictive. Instead of saving it for breakfast A2 and I ended up eating all of it by the end of the night. [gallery link="none" columns="2" type="rectangular"...

We had a few minutes to buy some bread for breakfast before the group tour began. We popped into Maxim's: one of the bakeries just outside University station. A2 got chicken and pumpkin and I got mushroom and chicken. My bun had a very strong taste of garlic; luckily there was more bread than filling.
