Even though Toulouse was a big town it was difficult to find things to eat, being a Sunday. We eventually found a chain bakery called La Mie Câline. It was the sort of bakery that reminded me of Baker’s Delight. They only had a few types of baguette available - most of their goods were pastries and other sweets, filled breads and salads. For our end-of-year celebration we decided to go to Persimmon, which is found within the NGV. Currently only open for lunch, they offer a two-course lunch special with wine for $45 and a four-course market lunch for $55 (for non-NGV members). Found opposite Robot Bar, just off Flinders Lane, Mugen Ramen serves up ramen, small dishes, drinks and, according to the menu, Japanese tapas-style dishes are coming soon. I took a bar seat right at the kitchen window, but there's also a larger seating area on the basement level. Today I opted for the wafu tsukemen plus an egg. My choice for lunch was the warmed lamb wrap ($19). Other dishes ordered were arancini, chicken and vegetable pie, chicken burger and summer salad. The balance in this wrap was much better than the chicken wrap from yesterday. The pesto marinated lamb was tender and flavourful, going nicely with the yoghurt sauce and tabouli. For dinner tonight I had the Souvlaki Chicken Salad with Torn Tortilla, Cos, Tomato, Spanish Onion, Cucumber and Olives bound in Garlic Yoghurt Dressing ($17.50) There was a decent amount of chicken and a lot of olives.
