For this balmy-day visit, I had the pear and rhubarb and a daily special flavour called Montgomery's Gold Mine (dark chocolate w. gold chocolate-coated honeycomb). The pear and rhubarb was deliciously smooth and creamy; my favourite flavour so far. The chocolate one was very strong, like dark chocolate, and I liked the extra textural element from the honeycomb. I was after baked eggs today and an early finish provided the opportunity to satisfy my craving. The baked egg daily specials were the vegetarian option of miso eggplant, tofu and noodles and the non-vegetarian option of lemon and herb chicken with potatoes. Young Bloods Diner is a modern and open space serving (an all-day) breakfast and brunch with a rooftop bar. They were still serving their spring menu when I visited so I was able to try their Roasted Cauliflower Salad with ocean trout and hazelnuts ($15). Fresh and light, with tender and well-seasoned cauliflower, nicely cooked trout and a creamy cauliflower puree, the salad was a joy to eat....

The impressive, modern and sleek shopfront houses a cabinet showcasing around 40 different flavours of gelato and sorbet as well as some of their gelato cakes, such as the Black Forest (as seen on Masterchef) and Dr Evil's Magic Mushroom.  The line wasn't too long when we entered, but after spending some time perusing the varieties on offer, the store was packed. Fortunately the staff were efficient and the queue was cleared quickly. Both of us...
