I'd heard good things about this restaurant chain and I knew it was very popular, with queues of people making it hard to get a seat. Apparently there are many outlets in Malaysia, but I've honestly never seen it before.  I'd also heard it served quite authentic Malaysian food so I was keen to try it out. If I'd gone for lunch I might have tried the wat tan hor or char kway teow, but being dinner, I thought nasi lemak would be easier. The first thing I noticed was...

Another day, another voucher; this time for The Cultured Salad. There are two branches and I chose to go to the one situated in Australia on Collins. There was a nice selection of gourmet salads, wraps and foccacias, as well as the option to create a custom-made sandwich. I went for a smoked salmon sandwich on multigrain bread with carrot, cucumber and salad. While I watched my sandwich get put together I was concerned it would be too big to fit in my mouth, but the sandwich grill compressed the...

After our hot pot dinner we decided to head out to Monga Sweet Cafe on Russell St for dessert. We opted for a split pot with both a mild broth and normal broth. For some reason the pot only came 1/4-filled with broth so it took a while for things to get cooking. The temperamental heating element didn't help. I don't...

This even was a wedding reception held at the Melbourne Aquarium in the Coral Atoll (room). Each table had a platter of bread (possibly white and olive bread) with a tray of butter and olive oil to accompany it. The entree was either swimmer crab beignets or Caesar salad. I'm not into Caesar salad so I was hoping not to get to get it, but when the plate was placed in front of me I decided it wouldn't be too bad because all the components were separated and the...
