Another day, another voucher; this time for The Cultured Salad. There are two branches and I chose to go to the one situated in Australia on Collins. There was a nice selection of gourmet salads, wraps and foccacias, as well as the option to create a custom-made sandwich. After our hot pot dinner we decided to head out to Monga Sweet Cafe on Russell St for dessert. Monga Sweet Cafe is a sister store to Dessert Lounge in Box Hill, which was popular among a number of people in the group. The decor was very Asian-inspired, down to the red, plastic stools and Chinese calendar (the one with the date in giant figures and a lot of information that I can't understand). Given today's terrible, cold, windy and extremely wet weather, a hot pot dinner sounded like the perfect choice. While we waited for the table to be cleared, we pored over the A3-sized paper menu and picked our hot pot ingredients, soup bases and individual dipping sauces. This even was a wedding reception held at the Melbourne Aquarium in the Coral Atoll (room). Each table had a platter of bread (possibly white and olive bread) with a tray of butter and olive oil to accompany it. The entree was either swimmer crab beignets or Caesar salad.
