Time to try the bibimbap! My eyes gravitated towards the stone-cooked (dolsot) version such that I don't even remember the price of the non-stone cooked ("cold", but actually room temperature) version. The beef dolsot bibimbap was $13. I said yes to both, and she subsequently made a circle of oil and a zigzag of chilli sauce on top....

Located in the Hive building, but with an entrance onto Victoria Street, Seoul Soul has received many positive reviews. Though I'm partial to bibimbap I thought I'd try something different and went with the spicy ddok bok ki instead. The ddok bok ki also came in a soy version, but the waitress recommended this one. The smooth and chewy rice cakes were nicer than the Chinese-style rice cakes, and the spicy sauce was tasty. The ddok bok ki came with a spring roll, a samosa-like thing and another...

Sushi for the third day in a row! I'm sure my iodine levels will be fine; I don't normally eat this much sushi. Mum and I wondered if the normal salmon and salmon belly were mixed up last time, which was why we got some in our trays. Though I'm not big on tamago, the tamago used in their...

I've been wanting to come here since I heard that their omakase is one of the best in Melbourne. Mum has been here before and said the lunch special was very good, so we went to try it out. All three of us picked different lunch specials (ranging between $18.50-19.50 each). I had the sushi, mum had sashimi and dad had the chirashi don. We started off with pickles and an unusual appetiser of noodles. Mum particularly liked these noodles and tried to figure out what ingredients were used in...

I forgot to bring my camera so there are no photos for this post, but it was a visit that both mum and I particularly enjoyed. Suzuran is a Japanese grocery store in Camberwell, which has a discreet, take-away only sushi bar attached to it. Instead of going for a la carte we chose 2 trays of prepared sushi: a tray of 10 maki (~$8, tuna, salmon, avocado, cucumber and something else) and a tray of 5 slices of California roll futomaki and 5 nigiri ($13, salmon, tuna, ?kingfish)....
