Grill'd have recently launched new sliders and sides at all stores and to kick it off, they were giving out vouchers to try 3 sliders for $10 (instead of $15). The three chosen today were: Beef with cheese, mustard and pickle; Beef with pomegranate and mild wasabi slaw; Chicken with Asian slaw and roasted peanuts. Izakaya Jiro opened late last year on Glenferrie Road so we thought we'd try out the new local restaurant for lunch. There's a wide range options on the lunch menu. Today I tried the Perfect Pear burger from Grill'd: Grilled chicken breast, poached pears, fig paste, avocado, Spanish onion, rocket & shaved parmesan. I knew it was going to be a sweet burger; I didn't expect it to be quite this sweet. Virtually all the sweetness came from the fig paste, which was the first layer on top of the bun. Sweet potato now costs the same as normal potato, rather than being $1 extra. The mixed grain tabouli again looked tempting, but I remember from last time that I didn't like the mint in it. Instead I went for the wild rice with almonds and raisins, and it was surprisingly tasty. The dahl added a nice salty touch to counter the sweetness of the other ingredients I added. Having both pumpkin and sweet potato was probably sweetness overkill, but I didn't know what else to put in my custom-made...
