We happened to be in the area so we thought we'd try out some of Le Petit Gateau's famed cakes. The two showcase cakes we chose were the Hazelnut Millefeuille and the Brownie and Passionfruit Chocolate Gâteau. On the way to the Moeraki Boulders we stopped at the Victorian town of Oamaru. There’s mainly art and craft shops, bookshops, artisan stores like limestone carving and glassblowers, a bakery, ice creamery and also a steampunk museum, which looked interesting, but there was a $10 entry fee and we didn't have much time to spend there, so we didn’t enter. After waking up relatively early (with the 2 hour time difference from Melbourne), we drove to the Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market, which was held at the Riccarton Racecourse. I had a Groupon voucher for Movenpick and the 34C degree day today made it the perfect time to use it. I'd visited previously and loved the hazelnut. I did taste the pistachio, which is another of my favourite flavours of gelato but didn't enjoy it so much. What a wonderful feeling it is to reach the end of written exams and have the freedom to spend time on a lazy lunch. We took a casual stroll over to Spring St Grocer to indulge in ice cream and explore the interesting things they had for sale.
