To celebrate the end of exams we headed out to Kenji - a Japanese restaurant mum has been wanting to try for ages. We decided to share nasu dengaku, agedashi tofu, a dragon roll and a platter of sushi and sashimi. I'd heard good things about this restaurant chain and I knew it was very popular, with queues of people making it hard to get a seat. Apparently there are many outlets in Malaysia, but I've honestly never seen it before.  I'd also heard it served quite authentic Malaysian food so I was keen to try it out. Given today's terrible, cold, windy and extremely wet weather, a hot pot dinner sounded like the perfect choice. While we waited for the table to be cleared, we pored over the A3-sized paper menu and picked our hot pot ingredients, soup bases and individual dipping sauces. Off to Zen for Mother's Day, a cosy little Japanese restaurant on Burwood Road. Me - Grilled teriyaki unagi ($23.90) A2 - Miso salmon grilled in foil ($20.90) Mum - Kaiseki bento ($27.90) Dad - Wafu steak ($23.90) There was also a large selection of sake available, and the menu included a short description of each one. This place just opened nearby, so we went to check it out. Mum's been here before so she knew what to order. This is what we shared: - Large Beef Pho ($9.50) - Special Broken Rice w.
