Din Tai Fung, a branch of its parent restaurant in Taiwan (which earned a Michelin star), was located in the food court of The Star. Since we were there, we thought we'd try some of their famous Xiao Long Bao. The way they recommend eating the Xiao Long Bao was slightly different; they suggest dipping the dumpling in the soy/vinegar (1:3 ratio) and ginger, creating a hole in the side of dumpling so the soup spills out into the spoon (rather than sucking up the soup), then eating...

For her breakfast, mum had some oyster mee sua and some warm soya bean milk. The broth for the noodles was very tasty. Unfortunately the serving was a bit small and there were only three oysters in the bowl. We opted for a split pot with both a mild broth and normal broth. For some reason the pot only came 1/4-filled with broth so it took a while for things to get cooking. The temperamental heating element didn't help. I don't...

Mistral is a restaurant located within the Sofitel at Ponte 16. Normally the lunch buffet is 168MOP, but this January and February it has been reduced to 98MOP, or about 14AUD after including the 10% service charge. I don't particularly like the concept of buffets with the overeating, greed, waste and lack of enjoyment of the food typically involved, however, the deal was too good to refuse. Appetisers included: terrines, cured fish and meats, sushi, salads in little dishes (prawn and apple, crab, octopus and orange and capsicum, potato,...
