09 Nov Undercover Roasters, Abbotsford
Undercover Roasters opened their brand new HQ in Abbotsford a few months ago, just after Melbourne came out of lockdown 2.0.
Its industrial look softened by greenery, and even though it’s a large space with high ceilings, it doesn’t feel cold or uninviting. It’s a beautiful space, and not just a place to buy coffee and coffee gear, but also a place to acquire new plants.
Shrooms comes with smoked portobello, pickled shimeji and crispy enoki, chimichurri, shaved pecorino, kale chips and sourdough toast. It was nice to have a variety of mushroom on offer, and we particularly enjoyed the smokiness in the dish. We also try the Big Easy. We loved the addition of onion jam, and the fresh, sharp flavours of the kohlrabi and apple slaw are the perfect accompaniment to break up the heaviness of the other flavoursome components.
As expected, the coffee is very good. There are also plans for classes and workshops, and also a liquor licence.
