My visit to De Clieu this morning took place relatively early (8:30am), but the cafe was over half full with dining patrons and takeaway coffee customers.
My choice from the menu was the beetroot-cured salmon with polenta chips, truffled cauliflower purée, herb yoghurt and wasabi salt.
The combination of flavours was delicious and the heavier elements, such as the dense polenta and creamy truffled cauliflower purée, were nicely balanced with the freshness of the herb yoghurt and lightness from the salmon. This as all lifted by the wasabi salt, which I really liked. The only thing that disappointed me was that the outer crusts of the polenta chips were soft.
