27 May Cupcake Central, Hawthorn
I’m not normally one for buying cupcakes, but since I was in the area and had an Entertainment Book voucher I thought I might as well. It took me a while to find it because I mistakenly walked into the complex that housed the Safeway rather than up the ramp towards Glenferrie Station.
I’d assumed the voucher was the same deal as the one from the new book – one for half the regular price. It wasn’t until I was literally it handing over that I realised the soon-to-expire voucher actually entitled me to 50% off the whole purchase, so I quickly revised my order by adding a two more cupcakes.
Three varieties were chosen:
– Red Velvet: “Topped with a velvety cream cheese frosting, this decadent lustrous red cocoa cake has become the best seller for a reason.”
– Devil’s Food Chocolate: “A rich Callebaut Belgian cocoa base meets lashings of Belgian dark chocolate frosting and chocolate curls”
– Peanut Butter Brownie: “Our signature Belgian Chocolate brownie base studded with chocolate chips, topped with peanut butter frosting, crushed peanut brittle and a drizzle of melted chocolate.”
Of the three my favourite was the peanut butter brownie, with the red velvet coming next. All of them were moist and had a very good flavour and texture. I also liked the product packaging. 0% fat? Heh. I wish.
