03 Feb CoffeeHead, Camberwell
CoffeeHead, a long-standing Camberwell favourite, has recently expanded into the dinner trade. It operates as PizzaHead on Friday nights with a larger range of pizzas and pasta compared to its usual daytime offering, and live entertainment to boot.
Having a fully licensed bar means you can enjoy some evening drinks along with your Italian fare, whether that be beer, wine or cocktails. The wood-fired pizzas have a slightly crisp base, and a balanced quantity of ingredients that is neither paltry nor excessive. Our favourite of the pizzas is the Little Mermaid, topped with a generous amount of seafood including prawns, scallops and calamari, as well as taleggio, basil pesto, capers and rocket. Tasty and satisfying. The Prawn Linguini, which is available both day and night, is a comforting combination of broccoli, confit garlic, roasted peppers, basil, chilli, and pecorino.
For side dishes, the shaved pear salad is a good way to go. There’s a nice counterplay of spiciness and umami from the chilli and pecorino. All the dishes at CoffeeHead boast ingredients that are fresh and flavoursome.
CoffeeHead’s solid food offering and large serving sizes carry over to dinnertime, and with happy hour from 5-6:30pm and live entertainment on offer on Friday nights, it’s the perfect place to kick off the weekend.
