The breakfast buffet service ended at 9am, so we were forced to have an earlier breakfast. There was a lot of food, but not a lot of standouts. They had okra with a peanut sauce (originally I thought it had chopped natto on it because the paste looked sticky), a perfectly poached (and cold) egg, watery porridge, weak miso, almond agar agar jelly, natural yoghurt along with a bowl of marmalade to be added on top, salads, cold vermicelli and black fungus, corn soup, grilled fish, huge blocks...

The food wasn’t that great at this dinner buffet and the restaurant area was a bit dingy-looking. Mum wasn't satisfied by dinner so we walked to a nearby McDonald's to try one of the items unique to Japan - Blueberry and Cream Cheese Pie. I was craving oyakodon and we managed to get one of the receptionists to recommend a restaurant that served it. She must have called the restaurant because almost as soon as we entered, the waitress said ‘oyakodon?’. Just as well we actually went to that restaurant.
