Zaza's is just off the quiet end of Bridge Road. Mum and I dropped in for their Kitchen Table Lunch buffet. It turned out we were the only ones booked in for the lunch session that day, which at times felt a bit awkward because there were other customers dining off the regular menu too, but fortunately the buffet table was set up on the side of the room. The buffet began with pumpkin, feta, spinach and walnut salad, some antipasto, arancini and canederli. The arancini were very crisp and...

Noir serves French cuisine in a modern and neat setting and was recently awarded one chef's hat by the Good Food Guide. For midday dining there are lunch specials for $18, as well as the four course tasting menu, with a glass of wine for $35. Today I decided to go for the tasting menu. The chilled pea and asparagus soup was thick and smooth, with a good balance of flavours. It went very nicely with the parmesan biscuit (which was more like a parmesan crisp). There's a focus on Korean and Japanese (mostly Korean), and obviously on barbequed foods prepared in charcoal and hard-wood pits and ovens. Also offered...

Our (late) Father's Day dinner involved a trip down to the Dining Room of The Grand Richmond. Aiming to serve simple and authentic Italian food, the Dining Room was small and intimate and the service there was incredibly pleasant, friendly, informed and attentive. Of the two types of bread I particularly enjoyed the...

Top Paddock was a much bigger cafe than I was anticipating. It was high-ceilinged and light-filled with a mix of both small and communal tables. We got there at around 12:40 and it was bustling with customers, but we got a table for two straight away. I ordered the gin and lime cured ocean trout fillet with pickled baby beetroot, potato galette, poached eggs, leaves, goats curd and toast. All the different ingredients were done very well. The combination of flavours was generally good; I wasn't too sure...
