Coombe: The Melba Estate is the former residence of Dame Nellie Melba, consisting of seven acres of beautiful gardens and buildings and first purchased in 1909. Madame Melba (born Helen Porter Mitchell) was the first Australian opera singer to gain international recognition. The Peninsula runs a well-known High Tea every afternoon. We ordered high tea for three and shared. High tea for two people is slightly cheaper than it is for one, but there’s the same proportion of food. The food arrived in a three-tiered platter.
