Saliva-inducing images of Mr Miyagi's nori tacos have been floating around for so long, and being a sucker for Japanese food I immediately added it to my every-growing list of places to try. I knew they were at the Night Noodle Markets selling a few varieties of nori taco, but I prefer visiting actual restaurants, plus, I also wanted to see what else was on the menu. The number of people in the group enabled us to book one of the three dark and cosy booths available. If you...

ABC Chicken is said to make the best Korean Fried Chicken in Melbourne. I visited in large group, and our numbers meant we were able to try almost all the different flavours available (score!). It took me a little longer than it should have to figure out where the entrance was (the front door is on A'Beckett street in case you're wondering), and the space is relatively small and quite crowded. I guess they have to cater for all these crazy KFC-goers somehow. We were given a complementary serve...

12's Cafe and Co opened just a few weeks ago, and though its main focus is Chinese BBQ, 12's offers Chinese fusion; something less commonly found compared to other Asian cuisines. Owner Jack Kwan spent a year learning how to roast meat in his native Hong Kong, then had to learn how to adapt those techniques to a commercial kitchen, and its flavours to suit local palates and create his own take on fusion cuisine. It's cosy and relaxed both inside and out. Antique books near the entrance are...

A new collaboration between Wonderbao and Chamil Kelly, former head chef and manager of Wonderbao, Mantou made its debut appearance at the 2015 Melbourne Night Noodle Markets. Kelly came up with the DIY concept of combining buns with other flavours and meats. These flavour combinations were created together with Matti Fallon, former chef of DuNord and Huxtable, and focus on Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean flavours. I didn't even know Bayte had closed down until I saw the Son in Law shop signs start to pop up. I was a little sad to see Bayte go, but having heard interesting things about this newcomer I paid it a visit one late night. Tony Rungapradit and his wife, Oh, opened up Son in Law after owning Chapel Street’s Ayatana. The menu offers contemporary and affordable Thai cuisine, and a bar. It's retained the split-level design and outdoor seating area from Bayte. As well as creative...
