Jacques Reymond will be closing down at the end of the year, so mum and I decided to celebrate both my parent’s birthdays and their wedding anniversary there. Set-up inside a mansion, the restaurant had a relaxed and homely feel. I specifically requested a booth seat for extra privacy and also one next to a window, which gave a nice view of the fountain. Today I had the opportunity to try Merrywell Upstairs for lunch. I’m not big on American food, but seeing as the Merrywell Burger ($22) is apparently one of the best burgers around here, I thought I’d give it a go. Livingroom was a much more casual restaurant than I expected. The quaint space looked a bit like a converted house, with floorboards, paintings and mismatched tables and chairs. Because there were still a few dishes we were wanting to try, we decided to return a week later for a birthday dinner. The chicken was, obviously very hot. It didn't have as much pepper as the dishes last week so it had a different sort of bite.
