A humble, almost typical pub look on outside belies the smart and spiffy interior of The Astor, home to The Roving Marrow and The Astor Bar. Previously Percy’s Bar and Bistro, the 50 seat dining room of The Roving Marrow features a warm and moody, yet inviting environment with its dark, timber veneer panels and mirrors, whilst the Astor Bar at the front has been fitted out with orange banquettes and dark tiling. The Town Mouse has been with us for over two years, taking over the small Carlton venue that was once Embrasse. Co-owners Christian and Amber McCabe, Jay Comeskey and chef Dave Verheul have made quite a name for themselves in this relatively short time, earning a chef's hat in the Good Food Guide in 2014, and being voted by chefs and restauranteurs as #18 in the AFR's inaugural national restaurant awards this year. The atmosphere is dark but cosy with high stools, classy, glossy black tiling, and terrazzo flooring....

Co-owners Emily Bitto and Nathen Doyle, also responsible for Wide Open Road and A Minor Place, opened up Heartattack and Vine earlier this year. It's a cosy space that suits couples, groups and solo diners, with 40 seats indoors, and 30 outdoors. Heartattack and Vine serves breakfast and pastries, then a variety of rolls for lunch, but come evening it transforms into a cinchetti bar.
