Today marked the official opening of Ba'get's Russell Street store and to celebrate they were giving away free banh mi. The free offerings were classic meat, grilled lemongrass chicken and Buddha's tofu ba'gets. There was a small seating area for about 18-20 people at the front window. Tonight I ordered spicy salmon. For some reason I read the menu as saying grilled so I was surprised when the dish came with raw salmon. The salmon was cut into (mostly) large cubes and mixed with a spicy sauce that tasted strongly of either garlic or chives. Also in the mix were vegetables, mainly bean sprouts and cabbage. I was invited to have lunch at Twee's Hut Vietnamese Favourites, which has an emphasis on fresh and healthy dishes from various regions of Vietnam. Much of their menu is taken from family recipes, including the aptly names 'Papa Pho'. I wasn't too hungry tonight so I had the kimchi jjigae. It came with a decent amount of chopped spare rib as well as some tofu, onions and other veggies, but in terms of flavour, I preferred the doenjang jjigae.
